Meet Our Honored Heros

Meet Tim | Kent State University | Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

During the 2nd semester of his freshman year at Kent State University, Tim started to notice significant weight loss and massive drop in his energy. As a lifelong wrestler he welcomed physical activity, but when walking to class became significantly difficult Tim visited the campus clinic. The clinic pointed him in the direction of the ER in his hometown. A few days later, Tim was diagnosed with ALL and spent 30 days at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center.  During treatment, Tim was told he wouldn’t return to school for 2 ½ years and participate in physical activity, Tim took that as a challenge. Tim returned to Kent in Jan. 2020 and even has ran multiple 5ks! Tim has proven that cancer is conquerable.

Meet Colin | Twinsburg High School | Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

In September 2017, during a routine football practice Colin collapsed on the field going into cardiac arrest. He was life flighted to Akron Children’s Hospital where he received an ICD to prevent another instance. But, almost exactly a year later Colin started to experience extreme fatigue. Thinking it was his heart, Colin went to visit his cardiologist where he soon was diagnosed with ALL. During his treatment Colin became diabetic and went into anaphylaxis shock.  Even missing his entire sophomore year of high school, Colin remained a fighter! Always believing he would overcome!
