Students of the Year Kickoff

Students of the Year is philanthropic leadership development program to support blood cancer research among a group of motivated and dedicated students in communities across the Washington DC Metro Area. Candidates form powerful fundraising teams and compete in honor of our local hero, Meaghan Kilner, who is a blood cancer survivor.
The Kansas City Students of the Year Grand Finale Celebration will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2020. Location TBD.
We are now accepting applications for 2020 Students of the Year Candidates
13 High school students over a 7 week period raised an astounding $112,223 in the fight against cancer.
Meet our Winners!
Congratulations to Team Hopeful Hearts! Sara Tamayo from Shawnee Mission Northwest and Sophie Sun from Shawnee Mission East were named the 2019 Students of the Year. These two girls and their dedicated team members raised $50,000 for the Mid-America Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Tyler Glass and Luke Nelson from Blue Valley Southwest led their team AVID Wolves for a Cure to raise $28,832 and were named the 2019 Students of the Year Runners-Up.
Paytn Godshall from Lee's Summit West was awarded the 2019 Students of the Year Leadership Award
Tyler Glass from Blue Valley Southwest was awarded the 2019 Students of the Year Community Award
Sophie Sun from Shawnee Mission East was awarded the 2019 Students of the Year Mission Award
Join us for an evening of dinner, dancing, a silent auction and more, as we celebrate our students and their teams for all their hard works over the past 7 weeks. We will also be announcing our 2019 Students of the Year winner and Citizenship Award winners!
