Meet our 2022 Honored Hero

Olivia

Age: 11

Diagnosis: T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Two weeks before her 7th birthday, Olivia began to show signs of fatigue, which was unusual for her as she was always energetic. Her mother noticed bruising on her legs and a few days later, Olivia was brushing her teeth when blood came out of her mouth. She was rushed to Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), where lab results confirmed a diagnosis of T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Olivia’s treatment began right away and for over two years she and her family juggled clinic appointments, chemotherapy treatments, lab work and over 70 overnight hospital stays. Olivia remained strong throughout her journey, welcoming each day with a smile. On May 9, 2019, Olivia entered remission and rang the bell at CHOC, signifying her last treatment.

During this challenge time, Olivia and her family sought to find a way to help other children with cancer. The family started Prevailing Crowns, a nonprofit that offers hope and a much-needed sense of normalcy to those going through treatment. Prevailing Crowns provides Crown Kits, hats that are ready for hair attachments.

We are so thankful to Olivia for being our Orange County Inland Empire Honored Hero and for being an inspiration to us all!
